News Highlights

  • BS6 BMW R nineT and R nineT Scrambler gets the 1170cc boxer twin engine.
  • Bookings for both the motorcycles are open now.
  • Both the bikes to be imported as CBU units.

BMW Motorrad India has launched the BS version of R nineT and R nineT Scrambler in the country. The former is priced at Rs 18.50 lakhs (ex-showroom) while the latter carries a price tag of Rs 16.75 lakhs (ex-showroom). Both the motorcycles will be brought to the country as CBU units. Bookings for the same are now open. Interested buyers can book the bikes by directly visiting the BMW Motorrad dealership across the country.

The biggest update in the BMW R nineT duo is the engine. Both bikes draw their power from the BS6-compliant 1170cc air/oil-cooled boxer twin engine. The engine in its updated form churns out a maximum power of 107.5 bhp. The motor produces 1 bhp less power than what it produced earlier in order to comply with the stringent BS6 emission norms. However, the torque output stands the same at 116 Nm. Transmission duties are taken care of by a 6-speed unit. Furthermore, the engine now gets a new cylinder head along with a new turbulence system to ensure more efficient and cleaner combustion.

Cosmetically, both bikes remain identical to their predecessor. However, they do come with subtle changes in terms of LED headlamps, integrated indicator lights, and a newly designed circular instrument cluster with an analog speedometer display. The bikes also feature USB charging ports. Besides these, ABS Pro with dynamic brake control comes as standard. The R nineT rides on 17-inch spoke wheels while the Scrambler derivative gets a 19-inch cast alloy wheel upfront and a 17-inch wheel towards the rear.

Suspension duties in R nineT are handled by 46mm USD forks upfront and a new travel-dependant shock absorber with pre-load adjustment towards the rear. Talking about the BMW R nineT Scrambler, the front end incorporates 43mm conventional forks while the rear end gets the same travel-dependant shock absorber with preload adjustment.
