Bajaj Auto launched the Chetak electric scooter in January last year in the Indian market. The electric scooter was exclusively on sale in Pune and Bangalore. The two-wheeler giant is planning to launch the e-scooter in new cities. With this, the bookings for Chetak opened in Nagpur on July 16, 2021. Besides this, buyers from three more cities - Mysore, Mangalore, and Aurangabad, can place their bookings for Bajaj Chetak from July 22, 2021, onwards. Interested buyers can get the bookings done at a token amount of Rs 2000. Bajaj Auto had earlier in April planned to enter Chennai and Hyderabad. However, this plan was set on hold. Currently, the Chetak electric scooter is on sale in 6 cities across 2 states in India. The company aims to make the e-scooter available in 22 Indian cities by 2022. 



Bajaj Chetak: Variants, Colors, & Price

Bajaj Chetak is offered in a total of two variants namely Urbane and Premium. Talking about the Urbane trim, it is available in two colors - Cyber White and Citrus Rush. While the Premium variant comes in four colors namely Indigo Metallic, Brooklyn Black, Velutto Rosso, and Hazelnut. Besides these, the e-scooter falls in the price range of Rs 1.42 lakh - Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom). 

Bajaj Chetak: Design & Features

The Chetak electric scooter sits on a steel frame. Upfront, it features an indicator mounted apron, an oval-shaped headlamp, and a flat seat. Other feature highlights include a pillion grab handle, all-LED lighting, a storage compartment, blacked-out 12-inch alloy wheels, and a Bluetooth-enabled digital instrument cluster. 

Bajaj Chetak: Engine Specifications & Chassis

Mechanically, the e-scooter draws its power from a 3.8 kW motor with an IP67 lithium battery pack that churns out 5 bhp power and 16.2 Nm peak torque. The vehicle can achieve a riding range of 90 km in Eco mode. The battery pack can further be charged in 5 hours via a conventional power socket. Suspension duties are handled by a link fork upfront and a mono-shock setup towards the rear. In terms of brakes, the e-scooter gets a disc at the front and a drum at the rear with a combined braking system. 

Bajaj Chetak: Rivals

The electric scooter will compete against the likes of TVS iQube and Ather 450X.
