2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Facelift

In terms of design, the Tiguan Facelift gets several styling updates. It takes design inspiration from the 8th Generation Volkswagen Golf. The front fascia features an all-new grille that merges into new LED headlamps. This set-up gives an elegant look to the SUV. While the new front bumper with bigger air intakes make it look sportier. The rear end of the SUV gets restyled tail lights along with ‘Tiguan Branding’ at the centre of the tailgate. It also features redesigned alloy wheels. Depending upon the variant, the SUV gets additional chrome bits on the side and towards the rear.

As for the interior features, Tiguan Facelift gets the company’s latest infotainment system and instrument cluster in order to be in-line with Volkswagen’s newer models. It also gets two illuminated USB C-ports in the centre console and new multi-coloured ambient lighting options. The cabin boasts of leather seat upholstery in four shades. Instead of physical dials, one can find a touch-sensitive control module for climate functions along with illuminated sliders for fan and temperature control. Apart from this, the SUV also gets Wireless Apple Carplay connectivity along with Volkswagen’s We Connect system that includes live traffic data and numerous app-based functions such as natural speech control. Furthermore, it also gets a 480W, 10-speaker Harman Kardon system. Plus, according to the variants, one can opt for the sporty steering wheel with touch-sensitive controls and sliders instead of physical buttons.

New Tiguan Facelif Interior

Under the hood, the New Tiguan Facelift will draw power from a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine that will deliver 150 bhp of maximum power output. However, the India-spec Tiguan Facelift is likely to be equipped with a 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, similar to the one present in Skoda Karoq. The engine will deliver 150 bhp power and will be linked to a 7-speed twin-clutch automatic transmission. There will be no diesel engine on offer.

The New Volkswagen Tiguan R will use the fourth-generation EA888 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine under its hood. The engine will be mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch tansmission. Performance and efficiency details are yet to be disclosed. The R-spec variant also features a torque-vectoring system that can vary the drive between the front and rear axles as well as the left and right rear wheels.
