MG Motor India is planning to give a mid-life refresh to the Hector SUV. The company will be launching the Hector Facelift in January 2021. The test mule of the updated SUV has been spotted doing test runs on multiple occasions in the past. Recently, it was spied completely undisguised during its TVC shoot. Spy shots of the same have been leaked online.
In terms of design, the updated SUV features subtle changes. Upfront, it gets a revised front grille with black mesh and satin grey surrounds. On the sides, the four-wheeler is seen with 18-inch alloy wheels instead of 17-inch alloy wheels. Towards the rear, the facelifted Hector provides a new black garnish with a thick chrome underline that connects the two tail-lamps. Apart from these no other changes have been made to the vehicle.
Interior details have not been revealed yet. However, we can expect it to sport a dual-tone theme with a different set of upholstery. Additionally, we believe that the SUV could feature an updated iSmart connectivity suite and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Apart from these, the cabin would also offer a 10.4-inch vertically oriented touchscreen, powered tailgate, automatic climate control, a dual-pane sunroof, rear AC vents and more to be carried over from the current model.
Talking about the powertrain, the 2021 MG Hector Facelift will feature the same set of engine and gearbox options as offered in the current iteration. First will be a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine generating 141 bhp power and 250 Nm torque. The gasoline mill can be availed with a 6-speed DCT gearbox. Second is a 2.0-litre turbo diesel unit sourced from Fiat that dishes out 168 bhp power and 350 Nm torque while being linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox. A 1.5-litre mild-hybrid powertrain paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox is also available.
Once launched, the 2021 MG Hector Facelift will rival the likes of Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500. As for the prices, we can expect the facelifted Hector to be slightly premium over the current model. At present, MG Hector is offered at a starting price of Rs 12.84 lakhs (ex-showroom).
