Mercedes Benz is all set to launch the new C-Class on May 10 in the country. The automaker has commenced the production of the luxury sedan at its Pune plant ahead of the official launch. Having said that, Mercedes have rolled out the fifth-gen C-Class from its Chakan facility. The vehicle will be offered in a total of three variants namely C200, C220d, and C300d.

Performance-wise, the Made-in-India C-Class will be offered with three engine options. The C200 trim will be equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol unit that churns out 196 bhp power. The C220d variant will draw its power from a 2.0-litre unit that delivers 193 bhp power. The C300d, on the other hand, will house a 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 244 bhp power. The transmission option will include a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The Mercedes C-Class in the global market gets a mild-hybrid technology as standard.

Once launched in the Indian market, the C-Class will rival the likes of the Audi A4, the Volvo S60, BMW 3 Series, and Jaguar XE. Design-wise, the Made-in-India C-Class mostly resembles the S-Class. Having said that, the luxury sedan gets a redesigned front fascia. The design bits include a reprofile grille, a new LED headlamp cluster, prominent ‘power bulges’ on the hood, sleek LED taillamps, and many more.

The cabin of the Mercedes C-Class looks similar to that of the new S-Class. However, it does get a few upgrades. The luxury sedan comes equipped with a plethora of features. These include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, an 11.9-inch touchscreen display for the second-generation MBUX infotainment system, jet engine-inspired air-con vents, and many more. The feature highlight is the rear steering wheel which has further helped to improve its turning circle radius (TCR) by 0.43 metre at 10.64 metres. More details regarding the features will be revealed during the price announcement.
