Xiaomi, the world’s third-largest smartphone maker, has announced that it has manufactured 10,000 units of the tech-heavy SU7 electric sedan. The tech giant launched the SU7 in December 2023, and deliveries of the sedan commenced subsequently. Xiaomi previously announced that it had dispatched 5,781 units of the EV by April 28, 2024.

The CEO and founder of Xiaomi, Lei Jun, recently announced that the company reached the 10,000-unit production milestone for the SU7 in just 32 days. He added that 79 percent of SU7 car owners are currently using 'Xiaomi Pilot,' which is the sedan’s autonomous driving feature. He emphasized that 28 percent of orders came from female customers. The brand anticipates that in the coming time, 40 to 50 percent of SU7’s owners will be women. These consumer demographics offer some indication of the wide appeal of the company’s first electric car.

The Xiaomi SU7 electric sedan comes equipped with the brand’s 'Super Motor,' which can reach up to 21,000 rpm. The base model of the car delivers 295 hp of power output and 400 Nm of torque. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.28 seconds. On the other hand, the twin-motor SU7 Max trim is equipped with the 'Super Motor V6S,' delivering a peak output of 664 hp and torque of 838 Nm. The Max variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds.

The SU7 entry-level model is packed with a 73.6 kWh battery set that offers a range of up to 668 km, while the more powerful SU7 Max houses a larger 101kWh battery pack, further extending the range to 800 km. The company says that the SU7 Max can provide a range of 220 km when mated to an ultra-fast charger; and in five minutes, the SU7 Max can provide 220 km of range and 510 km in just fifteen minutes.
