Ever imagined any iconic Rolls Royce model as an electric vehicle? No one did honestly except for Lunaz Designers. Developing an electric classic car is no mean task but United Kingdom based designer unveiled the World’s First Electric Rolls Royce Model. Stunning technological innovation at its finest, Lunaz added an electric powertrain to a 1961 Rolls-Royce Phantom V. Beatles band member John Lennon’s favourite car will be available as an EV for interested buyers across the world. The catch is that only 30 cars will be produced at Lunaz’s Silverstone production unit in England.
Expect the world’s influential and automobile connoisseurs to make a beeline to the designer’s production unit once the bookings are commenced. Production is already underway on the iconic brand’s Phantom as well as Silver Cloud models with the prices rumoured to begin from $657,000 (Rs 5 crores) and $450,000 (Rs 3 crores) respectively. This First Electric 1961 Rolls-Royce Phantom V will come in a two-tone colour scheme - Midland Grey on the upper and Cinereous Grey on the lower part of the car.
This isn’t the first classic cars to be fitted with electric powertrains, Bentleys and Jaguar EV models have rolled out of Lunaz’s shop. The buyers can request for a wide variety of body styles ranging from the four-door limousine to drop-head coupe to two-door coupe. The EV Phantom will come equipped with a 120 kWh battery with a range of 483 kms on a single charge. It is said that the powerful electric engines are conceptualized, engineered and produced under the watchful eye of Ex-Renault Formula 1 Technical Director Jon Hilton.
The original classic woodwork has been restored by the designers and given a finish of simple satin treatment and offset with rose gold inlays. Rear floor mats are brand new in the custom alpaca wool, an environment-friendly material rarer than cashmere and softer than lambswool. EV Phantom is classic in design but the interior boasts of 21st-century technology features. The designers have equipped the cabin with integrated infotainment system with inbuilt satellite navigation and automatic climate control.
Adding to the entertainment quotient is the integration of screens behind the front passenger’s seats enabling the occupants to watch movies. Buyers can opt for customized mini-bar which can house the finest of liquids. The stunning legendary car will come in eight-seat configuration with a front bench for 3 passengers, rear bench for additional 3 people and two optional seats. The 1961 Rolls-Royce Phantom V EV retains the classic design but has been tuned to the needs of the 21st century. Expect the bookings to end in a flash as buyers rush to add the premium car to their collection.
