The bookings will officially commence from next month. As for deliveries, it is slated to begin from the end of the first quarter of the financial year 2021-22. We can expect the price to fall in the range of Rs 55 lakhs - Rs 60 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla had earlier announced his plans to enter the Indian market in 2016. The company had also begun pre-bookings for a brief time back then. A few corporate stalwarts like Paytm founder Vijay Sekhar Sharma, Voonik CEO Sujayath Ali and Pinstorm CEO Mahesh Murthy were among the first to book the car.

Tesla Model 3 is the entry-level sedan in the American automaker’s arsenal. It was first rolled out in 2017. It is considered to be one of the most affordable and best selling all-electric cars in the global market. At present, it is available in 4 variants namely Standard Range (RWD), Standard Range Plus (RWD), Long Range (AWD), and Long Range Performance (AWD). Performance-wise, it offers a range of 500 kms. The battery size ranges from 50 kWh to 75 kWh. Also, it can be charged in merely 15 minutes. Furthermore, it will be imported as a CBU in India.

According to the sources, Tesla has managed to achieve the desired global sales figures for Model S and Model X. Now the company intends to push the numbers for Model 3. Furthermore, Tesla is likely to open a plant in India. The company has discussed the possibilities of investing in a manufacturing facility with the state governments of Maharashtra and Kerala.
