Tata Gravitas Specifications

Tata Motors has officially announced the market name for its Harrier based 7 seater SUV as Gravitas. The company also confirmed the launch of the SUV in February 2020 that was showcased at the 2019 Geneva motor show as the Buzzard.

Tata Gravitas has looks similar to the Harrier. What differentiates it from Harrier is the roof rails that make the SUV taller. The rear section of the Gravitas appears to be boxy that is designed to provide more headroom for third-row passengers.

The SUV is based on the Omega platform that is derived from Land Rover D8 which is also present in Tata Harrier. The SUV measures 4,661mm in length, 1,894mm in width and 1,786mm in height. This means the Gravitas is 63mm longer and 80mm taller than the Tata Harrier, though the wheelbase which measures at 2741mm is similar to Harrier SUV.

Also, the SUV gets a larger rear-quarter glass that replaces the stylish ‘pinched’ window line. When it comes to specifications the Gravitas is equipped with a BSVI compliant 2.0-liter Kryotec diesel engine, derived from Tata Harrier. The engine will produce 170 bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to 6-speed manual gearbox and also a 6-speed torque-convertor automatic gearbox that is sourced from Hyundai.

Tata Gravitas 's interior will be inspired by Tata Harrier. There are speculations that the Gravitas will get a large panoramic sunroof. The Gravitas model that was launched ran on 19-inch wheels while the model that was spied testing in India had 18-inch wheels inspired by the Land Rover Discovery Sport.  The company is expected to make Gravitas expensive by Rs. 1 Lac when it gets launched in Feb 2020.
