Tata Tigor EV

A fully camouflaged 2020 Tata Tigor EV facelift was spotted recently as a test mule on the Indian roads. Identifying whether the spied unit of the sedan was an electric vehicle is difficult with just the images but as there was no exhaust sound coming out, we can assume it’s an all- electric vehicle. The existing Tata Tigor EV is priced at Rs 13.09 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom) for personal buyers while fleet operators can purchase the same at Rs 9.44 Lakhs (Ex-Showroom) due to Govt. subsidies. The facelifted version will have a minimal hike in price considering there are not many cosmetic changes expected. It  will compete against Mahindra eVerito.

Interior changes include a completely digital instrument console, redesigned touchscreen infotainment from Harman, flat-bottomed steering wheel with dashboard sporting EV specific trims and accents. Tata Tigor EV has been on sale from October 2019 but its major businesses come from fleet operators. The facelifted electric sedan flaunts revamped front end which comes with LED DRLs, sleeker grille, restyled rear bumper, chrome strip and projector headlamps.

Tata Tigor’s EV battery pack is now a cool 21.5 kWh lithium-ion unit and can go upto 213kms on a single charge as per ARAI tests. The charging time is 11.5 hours using the normal AC power socket outlet but it would take two hours for 80 percent if you use a DC power outlet. As recently as 13 February 2020, Tata Motors bagged an order from Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd for supplying the electric version of its sub-compact sedan. Tata Tigor is powered by a 3-phase AC AC induction motor generating 40.2 bhp power and the powertrain is sourced from Electrodrive Powertrain Solutions Pvt. Ltd.
