Hyundai Creta

Hyundai’s first small SUV for the Indian market, the Creta, was launched in July 2015. It racked up sales of over one lakh units in its first year and also had a waiting period of up to 10 months.

Hyundai had also released a limited-run First Anniversary Edition to commemorate its first anniversary. The newer variants of the Creta including a petrol automatic, an affordable diesel automatic were also released to strengthen it as one of India’s most in-demand SUVs.

The engines

Buyers get to choose between one petrol and two diesel engine options. The only petrol unit available is a 1.6-litre motor that churns out 123hp which comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox and gets the option of a six-speed automatic as well. The first of the diesels is a 1.4-litre, 90hp unit which is also sold in other Hyundai cars, while the second diesel option is the 1.6-litre, 128hp engine. Both diesel engines come with a manual six-speed gearbox but the more powerful motor gets the option of a six-speed auto box as well.

The features

The Hyundai Creta is available in seven variants. The top variants get ESC, parking sensors and camera, diamond-cut alloy wheels, leather upholstery, keyless entry and go, and a seven-inch Audio/ Video/ Navigation system which is also available on some lower variants. Certain variants also get a five-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The top-trim is only available in diesel-manual guise while lower variants receive options for diesel and petrol automatics.
