Skoda Auto India has named the production-ready version of Vision IN SUV as 'Kushaq' in the country. The all-new Skoda Kushaq will have its global debut in March 2021 in India. The word 'Kushaq' is taken from thousands of years old Sanskrit language which means a king or an emperor. Furthermore, the spelling with the letter "K" at the beginning and the letter "Q" at the end is in keeping with the distinctive nomenclature for the internationally successful SUV models of Skoda such as Kodiaq, Karoq and Kamiq.
Mr. Zac Hollis, Brand Director - Å KODA AUTO India said, "The new Å KODA KUSHAQ will offer a compelling combination of the brand's timeless design ideals, unmatched performance, superior build quality, exemplary value proposition, and enhanced safety and security. It is deemed to be the best seller in its class, setting the benchmark for functionality, practicality, spaciousness, and convenience." Being the first vehicle to be designed and developed under the 'INDIA 2.0' project, the new mid-sized SUV is the first vehicle based on the localised MQB (Modulare Querbaukasten) A0 IN platform. The company will launch a range of new SUVs in the Indian market in the next 18 months.
Speaking of Skoda Kushaq design, it will get a butterfly front grille with twin vertical slats and LED headlamps. The SUV will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels while other exterior elements will include roof rails, L shaped LED tail lamps and rear diffuser. The cabin would boast of several premium features such as 10.25 inch digital instrument cluster, flat bottom steering wheel, automatic climate control and 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. Skoda Kushaq will be introduced with a couple of petrol engines: a 1.0L turbocharged unit with 110bhp and 175Nm & a 1.5L turbocharged mill with 150bhp and 250Nm. The transmission choices could be a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic.
