South Korean maker Kia has already presented its first car in the Indian market in the form of Seltos SUV. The bookings for the SUV are underway and production of the same will also commence shortly. With the launch of the Seltos SUV slated to take place on 22nd August, the brand is all set to set fire to the mid-size SUV segment for the third time this year. The first two times being the launch of Tata Harrier and MG Hector. Apart from a bevy of options in the engine and gearbox department and loads of features that have been doing rounds on the internet, there are some overlooked features of the Seltos SUV that have managed to stay under the radar. Therefore, here we will try to bring out the same features to the fore for you. Presenting 5 facts about the upcoming Kia Seltos SUV that you may have overlooked.
UVO Air Purifier
Yes, you read that right, Kia will offer a factory fitted air purifier in the Seltos SUV. This is a very thoughtful move, especially for a country like India where the pollution levels in major cities often top world charts with consistency. The UVO system in Kia is the smart connected service of the brand and offers features like car tracking, geo fencing, and other feature controls right from the smartphone of the owner. Not just this, the air purifier system of Seltos that can filter out 95% of pollutants as per the company, can also be controlled via the smartphone because it is also connected to the UVO system of the car.
Light Up Grille
The Tiger-nose grille of the Kia Seltos is a prominent design feature of the SUV that lends it a very muscular character. However, what flies under the radar is that there are a few light units present on the grille which light up as per the command. This not only adds a bling factor to the SUV, but can also prove very useful during the night when the car is stationary at the side of a road. These lights can be lit to let other road users know you are parked at the side of the road and avoid any major confusion.
Drive view
The 360° camera is fast becoming a common feature in the 10 lakh segment in the market. The camera can be used when the car is at lower speeds while parking and offers a good view of the parking spot for hassle free parking. However, Kia Seltos goes a step ahead and offers a live feed from the camera even when the car is in normal drive state, thereby taking the surrounding feedback to a whole new level.
Petrol Power
As already mentioned Kia Seltos will come with a plethora of engine and gearbox options. Among the two petrol options one will be the GT Line variant of the SUV that will come with the 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine. This will be the high end performance version of the SUV, something that the segment will witness for the first time. The most powerful option in the petrol line-up will be a 1.4L turbo petrol unit rated to deliver 140 Bhp and 242 Nm, this will be available only with the T-GDI variant of the Seltos and will also be the most powerful engine of the entire line-up. The 0.100 time of the variant will be just 9.7 seconds. Not just the Seltos line-up but this is also one among the most powerful petrol engines offered in the expected price segment that will witness the launch of Kia Seltos.
Terrain Modes
Kia Seltos will also come with 3 drive modes (Normal, Eco and Sport) and even terrain modes (Wet, Mud and Sand), these can be chosen based on the terrain of drive. This is somewhat similar to the modes seen on Harrier and will compensate for the lack of a 4WD option on the upcoming Seltos.
