News Highlights

  • CEAT marks its entry into the 650cc segment in the two-wheeler category.
  • The CEAT tyres replace the old Pirelli Phantom SportsComp tyres.
  • Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 might get the new CEAT tyres

CEAT Tyres, India’s leading tyre manufacturer, has partnered with Royal Enfield as the official tyre supplier for the popular Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. Through this collaboration, CEAT will mark its entry into the 650cc two-wheeler segment and the twin-cylinder motorcycle space.

Talking about the motorcycle, it will now be offered with CEAT’s Zoom Cruz tyres. It will further come in the same 100/90-18 section unit upfront and 130/70-18 section rubber at the rear. Earlier, the bike was offered with the Pirelli Phantom SportsComp tyres. These tyres were specifically designed for the Interceptor 650and Continental GT 650 by the Italian tyre maker. We are still not sure if the Continental GT 650 will get these new sets of tyres.

“We have a strong relationship with Royal Enfield as bikes like Bullet Classic and Himalayan are already using our products. The fact that Royal Enfield chose CEAT over a globally acclaimed tyre brand for the Interceptor, is a testimony of the quality of our products and the strength of this partnership.  This launch also marks our entry into Premium Cruiser 650+ cc and reiterates our commitment to being the preferred choice for OEM’s in India,” as commented by Amit Tolani, Chief Marketing Officer, CEAT Tyres.

Performance-wise, the Interceptor 650 is powered by a BS6-compliant 648cc, parallel-twin, air-cooled engine with a fuel-injection system. The motor churns out 46.8 bhp power and 52 Nm torque while being mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Feature highlights include round halogen headlamp, twin-pod instrument cluster, dual-channel ABS, upright riding posture and slipper clutch among many others.
