Nissan Magnite continues to create ripples in the Indian automobile market since it was launched on December 2, 2020. The Magnite continues to retail at the introductory price of Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India) making it the most affordable subcompact SUV currently selling in India. Since the launch, it has seen unprecedented demand among the Indian buyers. As of now, Nissan has received 32,800 plus bookings for the Magnite. Not just that, the Japanese brand has garnered more traction in the new year as over 10,500 bookings were made in the last 3 days. This was all revealed by Mr Rakesh Srivastava, MD, Nissan India in a conversation with our friends at AutoX. The most striking detail of the conversation was the fact that 17.7 percent of the total 1.80 Lakh enquiries were converted into booking. With the success of Nissan Magnite, the company seems to have finally found a way into the much-hyped Indian market.Â
As we see with the most new launches, the waiting period often shoots up as the automakers struggle to cope up with demand. Nissan understands this perfectly as it looks to shorten the waiting period for the new subcompact SUV. Rakesh further underlined the company’s focus on ramping up the production in the conversation with the media publication. It has initiated a third shift in the production plant at Chennai plus expanding the workforce to keep up with the rising demand for Magnite. As reported earlier by us, Nissan’s manufacturing plant has a capacity of 5,000 unit production per month. So, Nissan increasing its production is good news for the Indian buyers.Â
As per a statement released by the Japanese automaker, Magnite comes with the lowest-in-segment maintenance cost of just 29 paise/km (for 50,000 kms). The new car comes with a warranty of 2 years (50,000 kms) which can be further extended to 5 years (100,000 kms) by paying extra. Nissan Magnite buyers can also avail multiple labour-free services which are available at all authorized Nissan dealerships in the country.Â
The subcompact SUV retails in four grades - XE, XL, XV, and XV Premium. The Magnite SUV comes equipped with two petrol engine options: a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated and 1.0-litre turbocharged. The manual gearbox is offered with both the engines while the CVT unit comes only in the turbocharged powertrain option.
