Mahindra & Mahindra is all set to launch the next-gen XUV500 in April 2021 in the Indian market, reveals a Team-BHP report. The home-grown automaker has been working on the new-generation version of its flagship SUV for the past couple of years. It has been learnt that the company has reduced the production of the current-gen XUV500, contrary to earlier reports which stated that the new-gen model will be sold alongside the older model. The current-gen Mahindra XUV500 production is supposed to come to an end by January 2021, thus paving way for the new-gen SUV.

Recently, Shoeb R Kalania – IAB’s in-house digital artist, rendered the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 based on the existing spy-shots. Going by the rendered version, the new SUV will flaunt a C-shaped LED DRL lighting theme with full LED headlamps. It will retain Mahindra's signature radiator grille upfront with seven-slat pattern. The bumper will be tweaked a bit too to suit the overall design of the new XUV500. Coming to the side profile, it will be more or less identical to the present model of the SUV. Though, several spy-shots have revealed that there will be flush-fitting door handles which can also be seen in the rendered image. As for wheels, the next-gen 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will get newly designed alloy units.

It has been known that Mahindra will introduce never-seen-before advanced electronic features in the new-gen XUV500. Even the company has started testing the SUV with these features which also includes Advanced Driver Assistance systems. Mechanically, the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will be offered with both petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variants will draw power from a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged mStallion T-GDi engine while the diesel variants will also be powered by a 2.0L motor. The transmission options will include a 6-speed manual unit as standard and a 6-speed automatic unit as optional. The next-gen 2021 Mahindra XUV500 price will be higher by Rs 1 Lakh as compared to the current range.
