Next-Gen BMW 7 Series To Offer Electric, Hybrid, Diesel and petrol Powertrains

Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, translated in English as Bavarian Motor Works, commonly referred to as BMW is going to introduce a fully electric version of its luxury sedan series by 2021 worldwide. BMW is warming to the electric concept as it’s new MINI Cooper SE released just a few days ago garnered more 8,000 orders indicating that customers are becoming inclined towards electrics. The next-generation 7 Series will be available with four drive train variants: petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and a fully-electric. According to media outlets, This particular information was presented by BMW’s board chairman Oliver Zipse during the brand’s annual press conference in Munich earlier this week.

The all-electric BMW 7 Series will be competing against the battery-powered Jaguar XJ, and Mercedes-Benz EQS, both of which are under development. The German automaker hasn’t revealed any information about the expected arrival of the all-new BMW 7 series in the international market. There isn’t much clarity about whether the all-new 7 will be different in styling from the current 7 Series, although we can hope for an i7 badge. 

Zipse was further quoted as saying “We aim to have a quarter of our European new vehicle fleet electrified in 2021; a third in 2025; and a half in 2030”.  This reflects BMW’s new-found enthusiasm for electric vehicles with further new additions to their EV stable in the coming years. Further exciting cars to come from the Germany Automaker are BMW X3, fully-electric i4 and the conventionally powered BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé will be coming out from the Munich production unit. iNEXT, which will be built at our plant in Dingolfing. It is the next milestone – fully-electric and, at the same time, enabled for highly automated driving with Level 3 functions for motorways.
