Jeep India is all set to launch the new-gen Grand Cherokee in the second half of 2022. The brand’s luxury flagship gets an all-new architecture, all-new exterior design, and all-new interior boasting world-class craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technology. Furthermore, it is the fourth locally-assembled model from Jeep. Besides that, India is the only market in the world outside North America where the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee is locally assembled.
In comparison to the previous model on sale in India, the upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee will get an evolutionary design. Having said that, the SUV features a seven-slat front grille with chrome accents. Other design bits include sleek headlamps, a refreshed front bumper, blacked-out B-pillars, roof rails, a shark fin antenna, wrap-around tail lights, and many more. The cabin of the all-new Grand Cherokee boasts a perfect balance of sophistication and capability. The feature highlights include a power liftgate, ventilated seats, auto climate control, a 10-inch head-up display, a 10.1-inch infotainment unit, panoramic sunroof, multifunctional steering wheel, and many more.
“2022 will be an action-packed year for the Jeep brand, continuing to execute our commitment to deliver more made-in-India vehicles in the market. We are laser-focused on delighting our customers, not only through a unique Jeep experience but also by continuing to make Jeep a more accessible premium SUV brand to Indians than ever before. We believe this local product strategy lives up to that,” as commented by Nipun J Mahajan, Head of Jeep Brand - India.
Performance-wise, the India-spec Jeep Grand Cherokee will come equipped with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The motor is expected to generate a top power of 374 bhp and a peak torque of 637 Nm. The SUV features four driving modes – Auto, Sport, Mud/Sand, and Snow. Once launched in the country, the Grand Cherokee will compete against the likes of Land Rover Discovery, BMW X5, and Mercedes GLE.
Besides these, the new Jeep Compass Trailhawk is all set to make its comeback in the Indian market this year. It will start arriving in dealerships by the first week of March. The SUV will come with distinctive exterior styling along with two Jeep 4x4 systems and Selec-Terrain traction management systems. The SUV gets a modern and spacious interior. However, it features a number of upgrades in comparison to the outgoing model. These include a new 10.1-inch Uconnect 5 center stack display and a new 10.25-inch frameless full-color thin-film transistor (TFT) digital cluster.
