BMW Group India has launched the Mini Convertible Sidewalk Edition at a sticker price of Rs 44.90 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India) in the country. Being limited to merely 15 units, the Sidewalk Edition will be sold as a Completely Built-Up unit (CBU) with bookings open exclusively through the company's online shop. It will be offered in Deep Laguna metallic exterior colour while featuring unique design elements at the outside and inside the cabin. Mini Convertible Sidewalk Edition is based on the first special edition of this line which was launched in 2007.

The Sidewalk Edition gets a geometrically designed soft-top electric roof that opens within 20 seconds. The hatchback rides on 17-inch lightweight Scissor Spoke dual-tone alloy wheels while the door sills are finished in brushed aluminum with Sidewalk design. The bonnet flaunts delicate pinstripes while the cabin boasts of leather seats in Anthracite with braided piping in Dark Petrol and accent seams in Energetic Yellow. The cabin features illumination on the surface alongside the door trims with Petrol finish. Mini Convertible Sidewalk Edition features include multi-function Sport Leather steering wheel with Sidewalk logo, auto start/stop function, LED interior & ambient lighting, shift point display and projection of the Mini logo on the ground on the driver’s side when the door is opened.

Under the hood, the Sidewalk Edition has a BS6 compliant 2.0L 4-cylinder twin-turbo engine which delivers a top power of 189bhp and peak torque of 280Nm. The engine is linked to a newly developed 7-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission with double clutch and paddle shifters. The hatchback does a 0-100kmph sprint in just 7.1 seconds while clocking an electronically limited top speed of 230kmph. It also gets three driving modes in the form of MID, Sport and Green. As far as safety features are concerned, Mini Convertible Sidewalk Edition comes loaded with Dual front airbags, Brake Assist, 3-Point Seat Belts, Dynamic Stability Control, Crash Sensor, Anti-lock Braking System, Cornering Brake Control and Run-flat Indicator as standard.
