MG Motor India had planned a lot for the Indian Market. But the Coronavirus lockdown has caused some level of uncertainty to arise. Among the products showcased at the biennial automotive show (Auto Expo 2020), MG Motor is planning to launch the Hector Plus and Gloster SUV first in the country. MG Gloster basically is a rebadged Maxus D90. Maxus, another brand under SAIC, sells D90 as Pro in the global markets.
As for the exterior features, Gloster Pro in the global market receives subtle changes. However, not many details have been revealed regarding the changes made to the Indian-spec Gloster Pro. Compared to the standard model, MG Gloster Pro gets captain-seats in the middle-row. The cabin boasts of tan-colored premium leather upholstery.
Unlike the Maxus D90, its India-bound MG Gloster avatar will come with only a diesel powertrain. It is likely to get a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel mill that will churn out 218 bhp power and 480 Nm torque. Higher variants will feature AWD (All-Wheel Drive) while the base-variant is likely to get a RWD (Rear Wheel Drive).
Prior to the lockdown, MG Motor India was actively seen testing the Gloster on public roads. A new set of spy-pictures had emerged online of the production-ready model ahead of its official launch. MG Gloster, a seven-seater SUV is all set to go on sale during this festive season. Competing against the likes of Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Alturas G4, it is expected to be priced around Rs 28 lakhs (ex-showroom).
