  • This is the company’s second price hike in the country for the model year 2024.

Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading carmaker, has implemented a price hike on its famous models, the Grand Vitara and Swift. The price hike comes into effect today (April 10, 2024). The auto giant has increased the cost of these models by up to INR 25,000. The company previously announced that it would increase the prices of its cars in April due to rising inflation and commodity prices.

The company announced during a regulatory filing today that the prices of the Swift have been raised by up to INR 25,000. The entry-level Sigma variant of the Grand Vitara has become expensive by INR 19,000. In India, the Grand Vitara SUV is available in four trims. The Sigma variant was earlier priced at INR 10.8 lakh (ex-showroom). After the price hike, the SUV will come at a price of INR 10.95 lakh (ex-showroom), as per the brand’s website. For reference, the top-spec Alpha Plus Intelligent Hybrid trim of the Grand Vitara is priced at INR 19.97 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the most famous hatchbacks available in the Indian market. Earlier, the Swift hatchback came at a price range between INR 5.99 lakh and INR 8.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The car will now cost INR 9.03 lakh (ex-showroom). Maruti has not shared if all the variants of the Swift will witness a price surge. The company is likely to unveil a new facelift version of the Swift sometime later in 2024.

This is the company’s second hike for the model year 2024. In January 2024, Maruti implemented a price surge across its range due to rising production costs. The automaker has stated that it has tried to lessen the impact that growing input costs and inflation have on its customers.
