Jeep India is all set to launch the Wrangler Rubicon by the last week of next month, i.e. March 2020 end, in the country. The company officials have revealed that Indian buyers have showed a lot of interest in the offroading-based model. Jeep India has received huge bookings for the Rubicon and it has been 'sold out' for the initial few months. Jeep Wrangler is presently available in Unlimited trim only at a sticker price of Rs 63.94 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) while the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is expected to be priced in excess of Rs 70 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
As far as exterior styling is concerned, Jeep Wrangler Rubicon will be identical to the Unlimited, except for a handful of cosmetic updates in form of a red 'Rubicon' badge on the bonnet and red tow hooks. It will also have the fender flare at a slightly higher position and signature sculpted Rubicon hood with vents. However, the biggest change would be the introduction of all-terrain tyres as compared to the highway-terrain wheels on the Unlimited variant. The 'red' color will also make its way inside the cabin on the dashboard and toggle switches. However, the overall cabin layout is similar to the Unlimited variant with features like 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and U-Connect connectivity suite, 7-inch MID, front and side airbags, ABS with brake assist etc.
Under the hood, Jeep Wrangler Rubicon will be powered by the Unlimited's 2.0L turbocharged petrol motor which develops 264bhp and 400Nm. The power and torque figures are likely to be the same. The company will also offer the Rubicon in a diesel avatar with the Compass Trailhawk's BS 6 compliant 2.0L mill. Both the engines will be linked to an automatic transmission. The company has added substantial equipments to the Rubicon to enhance its off-roading capabilities. It is packed with Tru-Lok electronic locking differentials and electronic front sway bar disconnect system. Additionally, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon will also boast of Rock-trac transfer case and steel rails on the running board as standard.
