Jeep Meridian is all set to make its India debut on March 29. Ahead of the official launch, Jeep dealerships have opened unofficial bookings for the Jeep Meridian SUV. Interested buyers can get the booking done at a token amount of Rs 50,000. The deliveries are slated to begin by late May 2022.
The three-row SUV made its global debut last year. The India-spec model is largely going to be based on the Commander sold overseas. However, it is expected to get subtle design changes. The design bits include Jeep’s signature seven slat front grille, LED fog lamps, LED DRLs, LED headlamps, panoramic sunroof among many others.
The cabin of the Jeep Meridian is likely to be similar to the Commander. However, unlike Commander which only gets a 7-seat layout overseas, Meridian is likely to be offered in both 6- and 7- seat configurations. The equipment list is likely to include a 10.1-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity, electrically adjustable driver & passenger seats, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charger, and many more.
Performance-wise, the upcoming Meridian is likely to get a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine that also does duty on Compass where it generates 170 bhp power and 350 Nm peak torque. However, the power and torque will be retuned in the case of Meridian. Talking about the transmission options, the SUV might get a 6-speed manual and a 9-speed automatic gearbox. It is further expected to be offered in both 4x2 and 4x4 configurations.
