Isuzu Motors India has postponed the launch of its BS6 compliant range of vehicles to the second half of 2020 due to the ongoing CoronaVirus pandemic in the country. The company has also extended the warranty and service schemes till May 31, 2020. The whole of India is currently observing a 21 day lockdown which will end on April 14, 2020 and hence almost every automaker has shutdown its production facility for this time period. The Japanese automaker Isuzu currently retails two vehicles in India: MU-X SUV and D-Max V-Cross pickup.

Isuzu is only selling the BS4 models of MU-X SUV and D-Max V-Cross for private buyers in the Indian market. It sold a total of 1,404 units of both the aforementioned vehicles between April 2019 - February 2020 in the country. Recently, Isuzu confirmed that it will introduce the BS6 compliant MU-X and D-Max V-Cross only by third quarter of this year, i.e. between July-September 2020. In fact, the company has already cleared its BS4 stock and hence, it will not be able to sell any vehicles for at least three months till June 2020 in the domestic market. Recently, the Supreme Court had issued an order that provided extension of 10 days to the automakers till April 24 to clear the 10 percent of their remaining BS 4 stock.

Isuzu has already said that the BS6 compliant MU-X and D-Max V-Cross will attract a premium of at least Rs 3-4 Lakhs over the present BS4 range. For the next three months, it will only concentrate on exporting to various global markets. The company has also given relief to its existing customers by extending the validity of warranties and services due to expire between March 15 and April 15 to May 31, 2020. The Japanese automaker had launched a mid-cycle facelift for the D-Max V-Cross pickup last year in the Indian market while the new-generation model was also unveiled globally.
