The Hilux will cater to these customer demands and hopefully spawn a new genre in the country. Further, this launch will set the path for us in India to welcome many more new customers to the Toyota family and help us achieve our goal to deliver “Mass Happiness to All”. We look forward to bringing more awesomeness in the time ahead as we begin 2022 with landmark moments,” as commented by Masakazu Yoshimura, Managing Director, TKM.

Moving inside the cabin of the Hilux, it shares a few features with the Fortuner in India. However, it does get subtle updates. Features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, instrument cluster, climate control, front seat, and the steering wheel has been carried over from the Fortuner. The safety kit comprises 7 SRS airbags, vehicle stability control, hill assist control, electrochromic IRVM, front & rear parking sensors with MID indication, tyre angle monitor, automated limited-slip differential, and active traction control. Performance-wise, the Hilux is powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that churns out a top power of 203 bhp. The motor further generates 420 Nm torque with a manual gearbox and 500 Nm torque with an automatic gearbox. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.

“The launch of Hilux brings out the key essence of “unmatched toughness & sophistication”. Customers will get to enjoy the Quality, Durability, and Reliability that they have experienced with successful models such as Innova Crysta and Fortuner. For many of our loyal customers, this new offering will be a step up in their journey with Toyota. Our desire is to continue to excite them and our new customers with life experiences that fulfil varied needs and provide a bouquet of options. The Hilux which draws inspiration from the lifestyles of people who don’t give up brings together the best of all worlds. Further, to supplement the amazing experience of Hilux, we are very excited to launch the specialised range of accessories for adventure-oriented customers’, truly reflective of the design concept. This range of suggested accessories will amplify the versatility of the Hilux. To know more about such accessories, we urge the customers to visit and explore their nearest Toyota touchpoints. There is already a good response from our existing and newer customers in the run-up to the launch and we are confident that this will peak even further,” as commented by Tadashi Asazuma, Executive Vice President – Sales & Customer Service, TKM.

Toyota Hilux is underpinned by the tough IMV ladder-frame chassis that also underpins the Innova Crysta and Fortuner. However, unlike Fortuner which is offered in both 4X4 and 4X2 configurations, Hilux comes only in a 4X4 configuration. Besides this, the vehicle also gets a low-range gearbox along with front & rear electronic differential locks for improved off-road ability. Moving on, Toyota is offering a three years standard warranty or 1 lakh km on the Hilux. Buyers also get an option of an extended warranty of up to five years or 2.2 lakh km.
