The Hyundai i30 1.6 litre diesel was recently spotted testing again in India. The premium hatchback was previously spotted testing several times in 2019. Now a set of new spy shots of the Hyundai i30 reveal that the hatchback is currently being tested by ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India). Hyundai is using this vehicle to test the powertrain.
Since this time ARAI is involved, it is being speculated that the car is being homologated for India. However, there has been no news about the launch lately. With an estimated price range of Rs10 - Rs12 lakhs (ex-showroom), the premium hatchback is expected to be placed in the same ballpark as the new Hyundai Creta.
The 1.6 badging on the Hyundai i30 test mule suggests that it has the 1.6-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine under its bonnet. This engine comes in two states of tune - 113 bhp and 134 bhp while it will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox alonsgide a 7-speed DCT which is how it is currently being sold in the European markets as.
Hyundai Motor India is planning to launch the new-gen i20 soon in the country. But post lockdown Hyundai India is first planning to maximize the potential of newly introduced Creta and Verna sedan.
