Hyundai Creta has emerged as the best-selling SUV of India in June 2020 monthly sales. The South-Korean automaker sold a total of 7207 units of the compact SUV last month in the Indian market. The Creta got a slight edge over its arch rival, the Seltos, which secured the second spot by retailing 7114 units in June 2020. In addition, the 2020 Hyundai Creta received an overwhelming 14,825 bookings last month. Hyundai was the numero-uno brand as far as SUV sales are concerned in June 2020 in India with 11336 units, which also comprised of 4129 units of Venue besides 7207 units of Creta.
Hyundai Creta 2020 was launched on March 16 in the country at a starting price of Rs 9.99 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India). The new-gen SUV has registered more than 30,000 bookings ever since the nationwide lockdown was lifted on June 1. The company said that diesel models contributed to over 55 percent of the overall bookings. In May 2020, Hyundai delivered 3212 units of the Creta while April was a totally dry month as no vehicle was sold in the whole of India due to the nationwide lockdown imposed because of COVID-19 pandemic. The new-gen Hyundai Creta BS6 comes in five trim levels: E, EX, S, SX, and SX (O). The premium features include Hyundai Creta Blue Link Technology, Ambient lighting, 2 Step Rear Seat Reclining, 17.78cm digital instrument cluster and a 26.03cm HD infotainment system with BlueLink, Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.
The 2020 new-gen Hyundai Creta is offered with three BS6 compliant engine options, borrowed from the Kia Seltos. The petrol variants are powered by a naturally aspirated 1.5L MPi engine which delivers 115bhp at 6300rpm and 144Nm at 4500rpm and claims ARAI certified 16.9 kmpl mileage. It is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, while a CVT gearbox is offered as optional. Coming to the diesel variants, they source power from a 1.5L turbocharged U2 CRDi engine which belts out 115bhp at 4000rpm and 250Nm between 1500-2750rpm and claims ARAI certified 21.4 kmpl mileage. It can be availed with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. There is also the high-performance 1.4L Kappa T-GDi engine which has a maximum power of 140bhp at 6000rpm and peak torque of 242Nm between 1500-3200rpm while linked to a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. It claims an ARAI certified 16.8 kmpl mileage.
