Force Gurkha is one of the most awaited launches considering it has been almost a year since it was showcased at the Delhi Auto Expo 2020. Earlier scheduled to arrive last year itself, COVID-19 outbreak played spoil sport. The pandemic slowed almost every automaker and Force Motors was not an exception. As we move into the new year, we have come across spied images of the production model. The model was spotted without any camouflage, which gave us an insight into the exterior design as well as the interior. One can expect Force Gurkha to arrive in the Indian market by the end of the first quarter. It will compete against the likes of Mahindra Thar and upcoming Maruti Suzuki Jimny in the country. The off roader would be priced at around Rs 10.5 lakhs (ex-showroom), India to undercut its primary rival Mahindra Thar in the domestic market.
Talking more about the model, Gurkha retains the boxy silhouette of its predecessor. All was confirmed thanks to the YouTube Channel Studious Wanderer. The major highlights are round LED DRLs, a revised grille, updated bumper, larger rear windshield among many others. It will also ride on dual-tone alloy wheels.
The interior has gone through a major overhaul to give more features to the buyers. Expect a new infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, analogue instrument cluster, circular AC vents among a few. Its dashboard design would be markedly different from the previous design.
Moving on-to the performance, Force Gurkha will be powered by a BS6 compliant 2.6-litre diesel engine. The off roader will deliver 89 bhp of maximum power output and 260 Nm of peak torque. The engine will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. There could also be a 4X4 option on the higher-end trims.
