News Highlights

  • Avass Prototype R800 EV has achieved 1160 kms range on a single charge.
  • The prototype's electric range is almost double to that of Tesla Model S Long-Range.
  • Weighing 870 kgs, the sports coupe is powered by a 120 kWh battery pack.

Electric vehicle revolution continues to sweep across the world as new entrants arrive with a resounding sound. The latest manufacturer to surprise us is Australia-based Avass. In a test conducted recently, Avass Prototype R800 is said to have achieved a 1160 kms range on a single charge.

This is stunning news as it overtakes Tesla in the overall range parameter as of now. Currently, Tesla Model S Long Range is regarded as the electric car with the longest range selling in the international market. Thus it possesses a capability to travel up to 980 km on a single charge. The Australian manufacturer plans to push the prototype for homologation with its mass production slated to begin in the second half of 2021. If the production-spec model manages to deliver the claimed range which will be more than the Tesla, we will have a new EV brand to look forward to.

Talking about the test, Avass R800 took 11.6 hours to achieve the range of 1160 kms on a single charge having a constant speed not exceeding 100 kmph. The sports coupe is powered by a 120 kWh battery with energy consumption standing at 10.33 kWh per 1000 kms. Weighing at an impressive 870 kgs, the coupe delivers power to its rear wheels through a central High-Performance Avass Motor.

The Australian automobile brand is looking to explore opportunities in India as the government unveiled its ambitious 2030 EV plan. Under the plan outlined by NITI Aayog, the Indian government states that 70 percent of the commercial cars, 30 percent of private cars, 40 percent of buses and 80 percent of two and three-wheeler sales in 2030 would be of fully-electrified vehicles. Avass will not just be making electric sports cars, they plan to move into manufacturing of fully-electric vehicles like buses, cars, motorcycles, battery cells among many others.

“There has been a great focus on awareness about environmental protection which has given a major push to development trends in the EV industry. Avass has been exploring the huge potential of the global electric vehicle market for some time now. Our R800 Sports Car is highly suitable for countries like India that are demonstrating high potential in the development of clean energy-transportation infrastructure”, commented Allen Saylav, Group CEO, Avass Group of Companies on this achievement.
