Ducati is all set to launch a new motorcycle with the world’s most powerful single-cylinder engine. After almost 30 years, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer has unveiled a new single-cylinder engine known as the Superquadro Mono. The company has stated that this single-cylinder engine is powerful, and they will launch a new lightweight motorcycle that will come equipped with it.
The Superquadro Mono engine will be launched by Ducati on November 2, 2023. Ducati earlier revealed the spy shots of the new motorcycle and suggested that its design will take inspiration from Hypermotard. The company stated that they will launch “an essential lightweight motorcycle: a fun bike with racing DNA.” Ducati has only revealed a few important details regarding the Superquadro Mono engine.

The Superquadro Mono engine is based on the 1285-cc Superquadro and Panigale 1299 engines. The new Mono engine comes with Ducati's Desmodromic system. It gains the 116 mm diameter piston, 38.2 mm steel exhaust valves, size of the combustion chamber, and 46.8 mm diameter titanium intake valves from the Panigale engine.
The new Superquadro Mono engine generates the highest power by making 76.43 bhp at 9,750 rpm. The power output of the engine increases to 83.34 bhp at 9,500 rpm if it is combined with the Termignoni racing exhaust. The engine generates a torque output of 62.76 Nm at 8,000 rpm. Ducati stated that the engine requires an oil change every 9,000 miles. The engine’s peak safe rotational speed is set at 10,250 rpm. And it will follow the most stringent emission standard, the Euro 5 regulations.
The A2 license holders will get a detuned version of the new Superquadro Mono. The ride-by-wire in the engine comes with three power modes: Low, Medium, and High. For engine transmission, a six-speed unit is available. The gearbox comes equipped with Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) Up and Down. The gear ratios in the engine are based on the experience that the company acquired from the Panigale V4. The first gear is large in length, which will allow its use in slow corners.
Ducati launched the Supermono 550 limited-edition motorcycle that inspired many models in 1993. The company launched a single-cylinder mill 30 years ago as well. After all these years, the company has now launched the Superquadro Mono.
