Volkswagen has finally taken the wraps off the production-ready Taigun. The five-seater SUV made its debut at Auto Expo 2020. It will  be launched in the coming months. Volkswagen Taigun is based on the MQB AO IN platform, thus making it the second model after Kushaq to get this architecture.

Talking about the design, the front fascia of the SUV flaunts a single slat chrome grille. In addition, it is seen featuring square-shaped LED headlamps integrated with horizontal LED DRLs, dual-tone bumper, and fog lamps with chrome accents. On the sides, the SUV gets 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels surrounded by plastic cladding. The rear end features LED tail-lights connected by an LED strip. There is a VW logo positioned in the centre. The silver bash plate elevates the rear profile appeal of the SUV. Other design bits include chrome door handles, blacked-out B pillar, and silver roof rails. The SUV further gets a contrast black roof. The top-end variant of Taigun is likely to feature a sunroof.

Volkswagen will equip the 2021 Taigun with a plethora of features. The SUV gets a spacious cabin similar to the Kushaq. The feature highlights include a 10.1-inch infotainment system integrated with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, & My Volkswagen Connect, a 10.2-inch instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, ambient lights, Type-C charging ports, multi-function leatherette steering wheel and a rear-view camera among many others. As for safety features, the SUV offers a tyre pressure monitoring system, hill-hold control, rear parking distance control, ISOFIX child mounts and multiple airbags.

Under the bonnet, the 2021 Taigun will house two petrol engines - a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged unit and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbo unit. The former will churn out a maximum power of 113 bhp and a peak torque of 175 Nm. It can further be availed of with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. While the latter will dish out 147 bhp power and 250 Nm peak torque. Transmission options here will include a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
