Maruti Suzuki has officially teased the Swift Facelift ahead of its expected launch in the country. Apart from the released teaser, details of the updated hatchback can be checked out at the homegrown manufacturer’s official website. The facelifted version of the Swift has made its debut in selected international markets like Europe and Japan. As we already know, Swift was the best-selling car in the Indian market last year.
Currently, the Maruti Swift retails at a starting price of Rs 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom), Delhi with the top-end variant priced at Rs 8.02 lakh (ex-showroom), Delhi. Buyers can expect the 2021 Maruti Suzuki Swift Facelift to be priced at a premium of Rs 30,000 - Rs 40,000 over the current model. Once launched, the hatchback would rival the likes of Tata Tiago, Ford Figo and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios in its segment.
Design-wise, the Swift Facelift would be similar to the International model. From a current perspective, the updated model will feature a few cosmetic changes. Thus upfront, one can look forward to dual redesigned headlights surrounded by a new honeycomb mesh grille.
There would be a chrome slate at the center of the new grille. The bumper remains almost the same with minor tweaks. On the other hand, the fog lamps have been carried over from the outgoing model. To offer more options to buyers, the manufacturer is expected to introduce a dual-tone paint scheme with a black roof. It will ride on redesigned 15-inch alloy wheels.
Moving to the interior, the cabin will come in a black colour scheme. There would be a change in the upholstery fabric to offer something new to buyer. As per the images on the website, the biggest news is the availability of cruise control being offered with the Maruti Swift Facelift.
This feature would be provided in the top-end trims. Other equipment list on board will include a 7.0-inch infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control among many others.
The facelifted hatchback will be powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated Dual-jet petrol engine. Its performance figures would stand at 89 bhp of maximum power output and `113 Nm of peak torque. When compared with the outgoing model that delivered 82 bhp of maximum power output, this one will produce marginally more power. Transmission options on offer would include a 5-speed manual as well as 5-speed AMT.
The automaker will not be selling a diesel-powered model of the same. Instead, one can look forward to a 48V mild-hybrid engine set-up. It could come with an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG).
