Classic Legends made an entry in the Indian market 3 years back. It achieved remarkable success in the country with 50,000-unit sales within 1st year of induction. This is a stunning milestone considering the production was halted following the lockdown enforced by the government in March 2020. Now, 2021 Jawa 42 teaser video has been released on the company's official social media channels indicating its imminent launch. The latest images surfacing on the internet indicate that the production is underway with the launch expected to take place before the end of the first quarter of 2021. The images are courtesy of Baiju N Nair on Instagram. The bike is said to be coming with new colour schemes and new alloy wheels.
Currently the Jawa 42 rivals the likes of entry-level Royal Enfield Motorcycles Classic 350 and the Meteor 350. Its price at the present starts at Rs 1.63 lakh (ex-showroom) going all the way up to Rs 1.72 lakh (ex-showroom) India for the top-end variant. With the addition of new colour options, one can expect its price to increase in the region of Rs 8,000- Rs 12,000.
Apart from the new colour schemes and alloy wheels, many changes are not expected in the upcoming bike. The bike will retain the retro-cruiser appeal with modern aesthetics. The major talking point is the elimination of chrome elements on the motorcycle. Further, the manufacturer will also be offering new accessories with the updated Jawa 42. The two-wheeler will be sold in 3 new colour options of white, Matte Black and Matte Red besides the existing colour schemes available on the current model. The other interesting bit is that apart from the painted body panels and fuel tank, the bike gets an all-black treatment. The pillion grab rail undergoes a makeover while a new windscreen will be added to the 2021 Edition of Jawa 42.
Apart from the cosmetic tweaks, there is no change on the mechanical front. 2021 Jawa 42 will continue to be powered by a 293cc single-cylinder fuel-injected liquid-cooled engine. The bike will deliver 27 bhp of power output and 27.05 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. It will be sold in single-channel and dual-channel ABS variants.
