In a major development, Ducati has globally unveiled the 2021 Scrambler range. The Italian manufacturer has completely refreshed the popular Scrambler motorcycle line-up with three additions. The most striking addition is Ducati Scrambler Nightshift variant which comes in a distinctive dual tone colour scheme of black and grey. In a way, Nightshift will replace the older Scrambler Café Racer and Full Throttle variants as it combines the attributes of both the outgoing models.
The other new additions are Scrambler Desert Sled and Scrambler Icon which comes with cosmetic tweaks over the current models. The Icon Dark grade completes the 2021 Ducati Scrambler line-up globally with no updates apart from the engine tweaks. All 2021 Ducati Scrambler bikes are powered by a new 800 cc air-cooled, L-twin engine unit. The new powertrain complies with the stringent Euro-5 or the equivalent Indian BS6 vehicular emission norms.
Talking about the design and styling, the Nightshift variant stands out in the line-up due to the distinctive colour scheme. The dark paint finish has not been seen in the Scrambler series till now as it normally features bright coloured bikes. The bike comes with no rear mudguard, narrow handlebars, flat seat and café-racer themed mirrors. The Desert Sled variant comes in a bright blue scheme while the design is quite similar to the outgoing model. Giving a more stylish look is the red and white lines on the fuel tank and gold rims which is a nod to the 1980’s Enduro range of motorcycles. A new seat and mesh headlight cover adds fresh quotient to the motorcycle. 2021 Ducati Scrambler Icon will continue to retail in the Ducati’s signature red colour as well as 62 Yellow with no revisions.
The new Nightshift and Desert Sled variants will come with aluminium spoke wheels while the Icon trim will feature alloy wheels. 2021 Ducati Scrambler motorcycles will ride on a set of 18-inch front and 17-inch rear Pirelli tyres. Talking about the features, expect the Italian two-wheeler giant to offer digital instrument cluster with LCD display, LED lighting, Bosch cornering ABS and Bluetooth connectivity among others.
The new cleaner engine belts out 72 bhp of maximum power output at 8250rpm and 66 Nm of peak torque at 5750rpm. The engine is coupled to the standard six-speed gearbox. As for suspension setup, Kayaba provides 41mm upside-down forks at the front and mono-shock unit at the rear. Preload adjustability is provided in the rear suspension. The 2021 Ducati Scrambler range of motorcycles has a twin-disc brake set-up with 330 mm forks at the front and 245 mm forks at the rear.
There is no official word on the manufacturer’s plans for the India launch of 2021 Ducati Scrambler. Our guess is that the bikes would arrive in the Indian market by mid-2021. Earlier this year, Ducati launched new 1100 Scrambler bikes in the country emphasizing the manufacturer growing importance to one of the fastest-growing two-wheeler markets in the world.
