2021 BS6 Force Gurkha

News Highlights

  • It will be offered with a myriad of new features
  • The 2.6L diesel engine will return in a BS6 avatar
  • The sales are expected to start from mid-October 2021

Force Motors has announced the premiere of the all-new BS6 Gurkha SUV in production-ready avatar on September 15, 2021 in the Indian market. It was earlier showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo last year and now with the official unveiling happening in a couple of days, we assume it will be going on sale ahead of the festive season in October. The company had been teasing the 2021 Gurkha for the past few days with images and short videos at its various social media channels. The 2021 BS6 Force Gurkha will directly rival Mahindra Thar in India.

2021 Force Gurkha Design & Features

The 2021 Force Gurkha will retain the same boxy silhouette from the preceding model, albeit with a number of changes. The platform has been upgraded in order to comply with the stringent safety regulations. Carrying a new body shell, it will flaunt new LED headlamps with DRLs, restyled front grille, tweaked bumpers and a broader rear windshield. Needless to state, the SUV will continue to come with a snorkel and 4x4 badging. As for the cabin, it has been equipped with front facing captain seats at the rear in place of the previous model's side facing bench seats. People have also spotted a pair of jump seats at the rear but it remains to be seen if they will be offered as standard fitment or not. The dashboard and upholstery will be finished in a matte-black theme.

2021 Force Gurkha Engine & Performance

The 2021 BS6 Force Gurkha will be powered by the same 2.6L diesel engine which has been updated to meet the BS6 emission norms. The power output and torque performance are expected to be the same at 90 bhp and 260 Nm, respectively. It will be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard. It is highly unlikely that Gurkha Extreme's 2.2L diesel motor churning out top power of 140 bhp will make a comeback. The SUV will be available with a 4x4 drive system alongside locking front and rear differentials. The suspension setup too will be carried over from the predecessor as independent double-wishbones and five-link, rigid-axle arrangement will return at front and rear axles, respectively.
