A champion car manufacturer from the past that had faded into the oblivion is now strategically moving forward to regain its lost glory and resurrect itself in the world of car manufacturing. MG motors were registered in 1924 in Oxfordshire. The company was then known for producing high-performance cars at affordable budget back then. In the year 1930, MG Motors created its first racing car prototype that stole the hearts of thousands of speed fanatics. The relentless innovation that the company put in its design and engineering showed up when the car won the 1000km rally race in 1933, becoming the first non- Italian car manufacturer to do that.

Now, it in the year 2019, the British manufacturer is owned by the Chinese state-owned SAIC, formerly known as (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) making MG the largest importer of Chinese made cars into the UK market. Now, SAIC has declared to expand their wings further and start its operations in India. The smart move of the company is highly directing towards the lucrative figures of Indian automobile sales market.

The company will launch a couple of cars in the year 2019. The company has launched its first SUV named ‘Hector’. As per the company claims the Hector model has undergone severe testing of 10 lac kilometers under diverse terrain conditions. There were some reports that claimed that the Hector SUV is based on the China Spec Baojun 530. However, the SUV has undergone some changes to suit the Indian road conditions. There are reports of over 300 Indian specific tweaks in the Hector that makes it a truly Indian specific SUV. The SUV will be a direct competition to Tata Harrier, Jeep Compass and Mahindra XUV500. The SUV is priced from the range of 15 lac onwards.
