Skoda Rapid Automatic deliveries slated to begin from 18th of September 2020

Czech automaker Skoda Auto India had launched the BS6 version of the Rapid turbo petrol with a manual gearbox earlier this year. Now, the company is all set to launch the Rapid Automatic next month. Bookings for Rapid AT have commenced at the company’s authorized dealerships as well as on the official Skoda Auto India website for a refundable deposit of Rs 25,000. Talking about the deliveries, it is slated to begin from the 18th of September 2020.

“ŠKODA AUTO India recently introduced the new RAPID TSI range of products that now boasts state of the art 1.0 Turbocharged Stratified Injection engine offering the best of both worlds: exceptional power output and excellent fuel economy. An overwhelming response from brand loyalists and auto enthusiasts from across the nation has obligated the Czech marque to push the yardstick further and introduce the convenience of an AT transmission across the RAPID TSI range, at a very competitive price point,” as commented by Zac Hollis, Brand Director - ŠKODA AUTO India.

Under the bonnet, Skoda Rapid Automatic gets the same 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine as the manual version. Its power and torque figures remain unchanged. Thus the engine delivers 110 bhp power @ 5000 - 5500 rpm with 175 Nm of peak torque @ 1750 - 4000 rpm. The powertrain will be mated to a 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox. Furthermore, the new Rapid AT will offer a mileage of 16.24 kmpl (ARAI Certified). The same powerplant offers an ARAI certified mileage of 18.97 kmpl with a manual gearbox. In comparison to the outgoing BS4 model, the new Rapid AT offers a 5 percent upsurge in power and a 14 percent rise in torque output.

Skoda launched the BS6 Rapid in the price range of Rs 7.49 lakhs - Rs 11.79 lakhs (ex-showroom) earlier this year. The model is offered in five trim levels. The base Rider trim was quite high in demand. Thus, the company had to halt the booking for this entry-level variant and introduced a new Rider Plus variant at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom).
