The Rapid is Skoda’s most affordable car in India. It is now all set to go on sale in the BS6 avatar. Bookings for the same have already been opened since mid of March 2020. Skoda has equipped the Rapid with the new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that churns out 110 bhp power and 175 Nm torque. Initially, the Rapid 1.0 litre TSI will only get a 6-speed manual transmission. The option of a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox will only be added to the line-up after a couple of months.

The BS6 Skoda Rapid will be the first car among others to be launched in India post coronavirus lockdown. The bookings of the sedan had been initiated by Skoda in March at a token amount of Rs 50,000. However, due to the ongoing crisis, the amount has now been reduced to Rs 25,000. The Skoda Rapid TSI 1.0 litre with the manual gearbox is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 8.7 lakhs - Rs 11. 7 lakhs (ex-showroom).
