We have created a second list of top 5 value for money cars launched in 2020 in the Indian market

Today is the last day of 2020 and we are moving into a new year, which hopefully will be better for the automotive industry. Having said that, we cannot ignore the fact that 2020 was the worst year for the industry as a whole. The month of April marked a new low in the history of automobiles as not a single vehicle - either two wheeler or four wheeler - was sold in this month and zero sales was recorded. As 2020 is finally bidding adieu and 2021 is ushering in, we have created a second list of top 5 value for money cars launched in 2020 in the Indian market:

Kia Sonet:

Kia Motors India continued the onslaught with its third product Sonet in the country. Equipped with a myriad of never-seen-before features, Kia Sonet took the Indian market by storm as it registered over 25,000 bookings even prior to the official launch which took place on the 18th September 2020. Marking Kia's entry in the highly lucrative subcompact SUV segment, the Sonet was introduced in a price range of Rs 6.71 - Rs11.99 lakhs (ex- showroom), India. It was presented in two trims: Tech Line and GT Line. The Tech Line trim received five variants namely HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX and HTX+ while the GT Line had a lone fully loaded GTX+ variant. Kia Sonet's engine options included two petrol and one diesel unit while a total of five transmission choices were up for grabs.

Hyundai Creta:

Hyundai Creta needs no introduction at least in the Indian market as it has been conquering the hearts of people for more than five years. Hyundai India introduced the Second-Generation Hyundai Creta on March 16, 2020 in the country and needless to say that it created humongous buzz in the automotive arena. The next-gen SUV not only was advanced, rich and upmarket in terms of features and appearance, but it was also available with three BS6 compliant powertrains. Being priced in a range of Rs 9.99 – Rs 17.20 Lakhs (ex-showroom), Delhi, it had already bagged 15000 plus bookings even before the official launch. The SUV was introduced in five trims namely E, EX, S, SX, and SX (O) while powered by the twin 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines alongside a 1.4-litre turbocharged Kappa petrol engine.

Honda City:

Honda City has been a charmer right from the first-gen model which marked Honda's entry into the Indian market in 1998. It has been the leader of the executive sedan segment for the past 20 odd years. The latest-gen model debuted on July 15, 2020 in a price range of Rs 10.89-14.64 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) with a plethora of segment-leading features such as dual-zone automatic climate control, electric sunroof, keyless entry, Lane-watch Camera and 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The sedan was introduced with BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines while paired to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The diesel variants can also be availed with a CVT auto gearbox.

Hyundai i20:

Hyundai i20 is credited as the inventor of the premium hatchback segment in India. Having debuted in 2008, Hyundai i20's third-generation model is sold presently in the Indian market. Being launched during the festive season of Diwali in November, it comes in a price range of Rs 6.79-11.17 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) in a total of four grades: Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O). So, what makes it a perfect value for money product is the list of countless first-in-segment features like BlueLink connected car technology, oxyboost air purifier and electric sunroof. There is a lot to choose from in the engine section as it comes with three powertrains namely 1.2L naturally aspirated Kappa petrol engine, a 1.0L turbocharged GDi petrol engine and a 1.5L U2 CRDi diesel engine.

Toyota Innova Crysta:

It would not be an understatement to say that Toyota Innova Crysta is the best 7-seater vehicle on sale in India. Such is the level of comfort, performance and opulence that it has not received any competition till date from any other vehicle. Toyota recently launched the 2020 Innova Crysta facelift in a price range of Rs 16.26-24.33 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). Being offered in three trims namely GX, VX and ZX, Toyota Innova Crysta has unparalleled legacy in the MPV segment for the past 15 years.
