It will meet upcoming crash test and BS-VI emission standards.

The next-generation version will be built on an all-new platform and will be marginally longer than the
current SUV. Not only is the car popular amongst off-road enthusiasts, it’s also popular as a lifestyle
vehicle and it even has attracted long-distance adventurers. The company wants the Thar brand to be
iconic, so it’s making the next-gen Thar more refined and more capable on the highway. It will look to
embody cars like the Jeep Wrangler. The updated SUV will also feature a new BS-VI- compliant engine.
For now, there’s no fixed time for when the new Thar will make it here. The current-generation Thar
was launched back in 2010 and in 2015, it was given a mid-cycle update.
