Bookings are open unofficially and the car is slated for launch soon.

In a few weeks, Maruti will launch the India-spec Swift. Some dealerships have unofficially begun accepting bookings for the new model. Maruti is yet to announce officially though.

Dealers have told us that customers booking the old model could get the new model automatically if stocks of the older car are depleted. A handful have started taking bookings with the fee varying based on locations. Deliveries will commence by end-February or early in March.

The current line-up of engines will continue, including the 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre diesel. The car will also come with an automatic gearbox. This car is built on the platform as the Baleno, and the cabin is likely to continue with the all-black theme that the outgoing model sports. There could be two fully-loaded variants which come with additional tech – such as a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink.
