The new-gen 2020 Mahindra Thar interior images reveal that it will be premium, advanced and up-market than the current model in terms of features and upholstery

Mahindra & Mahindra is all geared up for the world premiere of all-new Thar on August 15, 2020 in India. The legendary off-roader is returning in a new avatar with updated engines and what better day than Independence day to mark its arrival in the country. However, ahead of the scheduled premiere, the 2020 Mahindra Thar interior images have surfaced on the internet. Some of the images were shared by senior auto journalist Sirish Chandran on his Twitter account. The rugged SUV will take on Force Gurkha in the Indian market.

Going by the images, it is safe to say that the upcoming 2020 Mahindra Thar takes a radical departure in terms of features and upholstery from the preceding model. The company has equipped it with exquisite features such as multifunction steering wheel, power windows, automatic climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The AC vents are surrounded by a carbon fibre like trim while the gear lever gets chrome treatment. The doors flaunt Thar badging while the front facing seats with adjustable headrests in the second row can be noticed as well. The side facing bench seats have been phased out. The SUV also gets roof-mounted speakers.

The exterior has been spied previously several times and some of the known styling elements include, silver colored scuff plates, 5-spoke black-finished alloy wheels, side steps, Thar logo on tail-lamp cluster and ORVMs. The 2020 Mahindra Thar will get both hard top and soft top options and the mule captured here in images boasts of a hard top. Being based on the Gen3 architecture, it will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel trims with BS6 compliant engines. There will be a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged mStallion petrol engine with top power of 187bhp and a 2.2L 4-cylinder diesel engine with power output of 138bhp. Both the engines will be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox while the petrol variants might also get an auto transmission as option. A 4x4 drive system in on cards as well.
