Bajaj India is one of the leading two-three-wheeler manufacturers in India. The company is well known for its R&D products development and low-cost manufacturing skills. At present, the company has two subsidiaries namely Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV and PT Bajaj Indonesia. The company history dates to the year 1945 when the company Bajaj Auto came into being under the name M/s Bachraj Trading Corporation Private Limited.
The company started with importing two and three wheelers in India in the year 1948. The company got its license to manufacture two-wheelers and three-wheelers in the year 1959 from the government of India.
The company became a public limited company in 1960. The year 1970, the company completed the 1 lac unit milestone.
It was however in the year 1972 that Bajaj would become a household name with its famous Bajaj Chetak. The famous scooter that would later become the affordable means of transport for millions of middle-class families which would make the slogan “Hamara Bajaj” famous. In the year 1977, the vehicle launched Rear Engine Autorickshaw.
However, it was the pulsar model that made Bajaj famous among the youth of the country. The Pulsar series quickly became one of the bestselling bike models for the bike manufacturer. The Bajaj introduced the pulsar 150 and pulsar 180 in the year 2001. The bikes took India by storm as the bikes offered great performance at affordable prices.
The bike gave a decent fuel mileage despite having a powerful engine.
The Pulsar series saw its most popular model Pulsar 220F that would become an iconic bike in the years to come. Even today when many models faded into oblivion the Pulsar 220F remains to be a top-selling bike model for the company. The avenger bike series was another success story for the manufacturer. Even today the Avenger bike models dominate the tourer bike segment at the given price.
The Bajaj has its headquarters in Pune, Maharashtra. The company has its manufacture plants in Chakan (Pune), Waluj (near Aurangabad) and Pantnagar in Uttarakhand. The oldest manufacturing plant at Akurdi (Pune) is now an R&D center called 'Ahead'.
In the year 2013, the company partnered with the Austrian bike manufacturer KTM and launched Duke and RC series under the KTM badge. The alliance has proved to be very fruitful for the company has the KTM has received the love of the youth. The company is looking forward to its next alliance which is with UK based bike manufacturer Triumph motorcycles.

The upcoming Bikes are Bajaj Pulsar 200NS FI that will be priced at ₹ 86k Onwards, Bajaj Pulsar 180NS that will be priced at ₹ 80k Onwards, Bajaj Urbanite that will be priced at ₹ 65k onwards, Bajaj Pulsar SS400 that will be priced at ₹ 1.8 Lacs.
