Volkswagen India has launched the limited edition of Polo and Vento in the country. Being based on the flagship Highline Plus trim, Volkswagen Polo limited edition and Volkswagen Vento limited edition are priced at Rs 7.89 Lakhs and Rs 10.99 Lakhs, (Both prices are Ex. Showroom, India) respectively. The limited edition duo is available only with a petrol engine and manual transmission. The Polo limited edition is nearly Rs 13,000 cheaper than the standard Highline Plus variant while the Vento limited edition costs around Rs 1 Lakh lesser than the regular Highline Plus variant.
Since both the limited editions are based on the range-topping Highline Plus trim level, they carry the same features and styling as the standard models. However, there are a handful of cosmetic updates in order to make them appear different from the regular models in the form of decals and stickers on doors, TSI emblem on the lower part of the passenger doors, black outside mirrors, contrast black roof and rear spoiler in glossy black finish. The introduction of these limited edition models is seen towards pushing the sales particularly in case of Vento as it is a whooping Rs 1 Lakh cheaper than the standard model while offering the same amount of luxurious features. The booking for both the models is underway at the company's official website.
Under the hood, both Volkswagen Polo limited edition and Volkswagen Vento limited edition have the BS6 compliant 1.0L 3-cylinder TSI turbocharged petrol engine. This engine develops a top power of 110bhp and peak torque of 175Nm while it is linked to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. There is no automatic gearbox on offer at the moment. The BS6 VW Polo TSI limited edition returns an ARAI certified mileage of 18.24kmpl while the BS6 VW Vento TSI limited edition delivers a fuel economy of 17.69kmpl. Volkswagen Polo has rivals in the form of Hyundai i20, Maruti Baleno and Tata Altroz while Volkwagen Vento is at odds with the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
