BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe and M8 Coupe launched in India

BMW-8-Series-Gran-Coupe

The two most luxurious models from BMW namely the 8 Series Gran Coupe and M8 Coupe have been launched in India via the online medium. The price for BMW 840i Gran Coupe is Rs 1.29 crore (ex-showroom) while the aggressive-looking 840i Gran Coupe M Sport has been launched with a price tag of Rs 1.55 crore (ex-showroom). The perfomance oriented BMW M8 Coupe price is Rs 2.15 crore(ex-showroom). BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe will compete against the likes of Mercedes Benz CLS. While BMW M8 Coupe will compete against the likes of Mercedes AMG S 63 Coupe. Both models can now be purchased from the recently launched BMW Contactless Experience.

BMW M8 Coupe

The first-ever BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe gets four frameless doors. Upfront, it features a double kidney grille. At the side, it gets a long wheelbase, wide wheel arches, and coupe-style roofline. The rear end gets a sport exhaust system and wrap-around LED lights. 

As for Interior features, the 8 Series Gran Coupe gets electrically adjustable Sport Seats. The rear seats for the first time get a single-seat design. The instrument panel and door trims are finished in premium leather - Walknappa. The cabin gets multiple color options in leather upholstery. Other highlighted features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch Control Display, four-zone climate control, a 16-speaker Harman-Kardon audio system, a 360-degree camera, among many others. The M Sport edition gets a sporty look. The car comes with an “M’ aerodynamic package that includes extra-large air intakes, BMW’s laser-light headlamps, 19-inch M light-alloy wheels, M lettering, M leather steering wheel, M Sport brake, and two chrome exhaust tips. 

BMW 840i Grand Coupe and M Sport models are powered by a BS6 compliant 3.0-litre 6-cylinder, in-line twin-turbocharged petrol engine that develops 340 bhp power and 500 Nm torque. Transmission duties are carried out by an 8-speed Steptronic sport automatic transmission. 

While BMW M8 Coupe is a high-performance version of the regular 8 Series. The front fascia features a hexagonal kidney grille with M typical double slats. The rear end gets spoiler lip, M-specific M8 rear diffuser, and M-specific double-flow exhaust system with twin tailpipes. The vehicle gets M8 lettering on the door sill. Its interior boasts of two-tone full-leather 'Merino' upholstery with hexagonal embroidery on the seat’s center section and an exclusive illuminated ‘M8’ logo available in the headrest. Other highlighted features include the Harman Kardon surround-sound system that can also be upgraded to the optional Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound system. It also gets optional equipment such as M seat belts, M Carbon engine cover, M Sport exhaust system, M Carbon ceramic brakes, M Driver's Package among others.

BMW-8-Series-Gran-Coupe

The two-door coupe sources power from a 4.4-litre, twin-turbo, V-8 engine that delivers 600 bhp of maximum power with 750 Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to an 8-speed Steptronic sport automatic transmission. BMW’s latest xDrive all-wheel-drive system even provides the ability to switch the vehicle completely to a rear-wheel-drive layout for the fun driving element. 

As for safety features, both the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe and M8 Coupe comes equipped with six airbags, Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) including Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS),  Electric Parking Brake with Auto Hold, Side-Impact Protection, Electronic Vehicle Immobilizer, Crash Sensor and ISOFIX child seat mounting. In the case of M8 Coupe, one can opt for BMW Night Vision with person recognition.
