Tata Nexon was launched with BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines in the Indian market in January 2020.

Tata Motors had introduced the 2020 Nexon facelift with BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines in the Indian market in January. The power output and torque performance figures were released by the company but the mileage was not revealed yet. So, now our friends at AutoCar India have come up with the fuel efficiency figures of Tata Nexon AMT as well as manual variants. For those asking, Tata Nexon sub-compact SUV is at loggerheads with Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra XUV300.

Tata Nexon petrol variants are powered by a BS6 compliant 1.2L 3-cylinder turbocharged engine which develops a top power of 120bhp and peak torque of 170Nm. The engine is available with a 6-speed manual transmission and it returns a mileage of 17.40kmpl. The engine can also be availed with a 6-speed AMT gearbox which delivers a fuel economy of 16kmpl. On the other hand, the diesel variants are powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder turbocharged BS6 engine which is mated to both 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT units. The maximum power output and highest torque performance stands at 110bhp and 260Nm. The manual variants have a mileage of 22.40kmpl while the automatic variants give fuel efficiency of 22.40kmpl. All the aforementioned mileage figures are ARAI Certified.

Looking at the fuel economy of AMT versions in both petrol and diesel fuel trims as compared to manual versions, it can be said that while the diesel figures remain identical, the petrol mileage has gone down by 1.40kmpl. If we talk about the overall segment, Tata Nexon petrol AMT is third most fuel efficient behind Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue, which have mileage of 18.76kmpl and 18kmpl, respectively. Similarly, we can compare Tata Nexon diesel AMT mileage and Mahindra XUV300 diesel AMT mileage as it happens to be the only SUV in the segment to offer a diesel-automatic combination. Though, Mahindra hasn't yet revealed the official figures for the XUV300 AMT.
