Suzuki likely to launch Gixxer 250 in India by May 20.

Suzuki brought its GP inspired Gixxer series to India a few years back and the bike has been performing great ever since. Now there are reports on the internet that claim that the Japanese bike maker is gearing up to launch a bigger version of the entry-level Gixxer in India. The upcoming Gixxer will lock horns with bikes such as KTM 250 Duke in the market.

The reports state that the Japanese brand may present the bigger Gixxer 250 in India as soon as May 20. Further details as to the price unveil or the date of launch of the bike are still awaited, though what is confirmed is that the bike will first arrive in the naked streetfighter format and will be followed by a fully-faired version in the coming times.

There are no radical design changes to be expected on the Gixxer 250 as it will be a beefed up version of the smaller version of the bike that is already present in the Indian market. Speculative renders have indicated that the upcoming Gixxer may feature a sharper design and angular looks. The presence of a lot of cover on the body will also make the bike look more beefier. There are speculations that the upcoming Gixxer 250 may not offer as aggressive a seating position as the Duke 250 does.

Talking about the fully-faired version of Gixxer 250, it too will come with the “SF” branding. However, compared to the smaller version, the GIxxer 250 will have a more sharp and aggressive styling. Suzuki sells GSX-250R in global markets to rival Yamaha YZF-R3 and Kawasaki Ninja 250R. The Suzuki GSX-250R comes with a twin cylinder engine rated to deliver 25 Bhp and 23.3 Nm and the parallel twin engine is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. However, Suzuki will not offer the twin cylinder engine on Gixxer and Gixxer 250 SF in India as it will keep the prices low and comparable to the rivals in the market. The Indian Gixxer 250 is expected to come with a single cylinder engine rated to deliver nearly 24 Bhp of maximum power. The single cylinder engine will keep the prices of the upcoming Gixxer 250 relatively affordable.

The upcoming Gixxer 250 will share a lot of parts with its lighter sibling. There parts may encompass handle, fuel tank, tyres, shock absorbers, electrical parts and instrument console. Although, do expect subtle changes in looks and features in the Gixxer 250 in order to distinguish it from the cheaper sibling.
