BS6 Mahindra Alturas coming soon with new set of alloy wheels.

The Indian automobile industry is going through a tough time due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. Delayed launches of vehicles, dealerships temporality shutdown and manufacturing units closed is the recurrent news that one hears on a daily basis. Coronavirus outbreak is giving a headache to manufacturers in addition to the BS6 adoption. Mahindra & Mahindra had to deal with the new stringent BS6 Norms with only 3 years given for the transition from BS4 to BS6. Recently, the company released a teaser of BS6 compliant Mahindra Alturas G4 on its official website. It also indicates that the brand is accepting online bookings for the BS6 Alturas G4. The SUV can be booked with a token amount of Rs 50,000. Unlike earlier where the BS4 version offered two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options, the BS6 version will currently only cater to a 4x4 variant.

BS6 compliant Alturas G4 launch date isn’t available right now primarily due to the current situation in the country. There isn’t going to be any changes in the mechanicals and features of this SUV. BS6 Mahindra Alturas G4 will be powered by a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel engine delivering 178 bhp of maximum power output and 420Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a seven-speed automatic gearbox, sourced from Mercedes-Benz with 4WD capability. BS6 Alturas G4 will be offered in 5 paint schemes - Napoli Black, Regal Blue, New Pearl White, Lake Side Brown and D Sat Silver.

It’s not just the new BS6 engine in Alturas G4, there are a set of newly designed alloy wheels. Features and equipment list on-board this SUV would be similar to that of the outgoing BS4 model. Talking about the interiors, there will be dual zone fully automatic temperature control, 8-way adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seats, electric sunroof, memory profile for driver seat and ORVM. Safety features in Alturas G4 would include 9 airbags, Anti Braking System (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), Brake Assist system, Emergency Stop Signal and Active Rollover Program among other highlights.

The Indian automaker sold the BS4 Alturas G4 in two variants – 2WD and a 4WD trim, priced at Rs 27.7 lakhs and Rs 30.7 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. As observed in earlier BS6 launches, expect a minor increase in price of the BS6 Mahindra Alturas G4. The SUV will compete against the likes of Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner and the Isuzu MU-X in its segment. We can expect the official launch of BS6 Alturas in the coming days once the restrictions are lifted.
