Tata Tiago CNG and Tata Tigor CNG bookings have already started at a token amount ranging between Rs 5000-20000

Tata Motors has officially announced the launch of Tiago CNG and Tigor CNG on January 19, 2022 in the Indian market. The company has been teasing the CNG duo for the past few days on its various social media channels. Tata Tiago CNG and Tata Tigor CNG bookings have already started at a token amount ranging between Rs 5000-20000 in the country. The CNG space in the Indian automobile industry is dominated by Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai presently and with the entry of Tata, it is going to heat up the competition in this segment.

Tata Tiago CNG and Tata Tigor CNG will not get any cosmetic updates on the outside as compared to the standard versions, except for the CNG badging at the boot. It has been learnt that the brand will introduce the CNG kit in the top-end trim, most probably the XZ. Hence, the features will also be similar to the regular version of the hatchback and sedan which comprises of projector headlamps, automatic climate control, fog lamps, digital instrument cluster, rearview camera, rear wiper and touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Tigor CNG will directly lock horns with Hyundai Aura CNG while the Tiago CNG will compete with Maruti Wagon R CNG and Hyundai Santro CNG.

Mechanically, Tata Tiago CNG and Tata Tigor CNG will be powered by the same 1.2L petrol engine which comes in the standard version of the duo. It generates top power of 85 bhp and peak torque of 113 Nm. Though, the power output and torque delivery are expected to take a dip with the CNG version. Tata Motors will offer the CNG variants with a 5-speed manual transmission. Although the petrol version is also available with an AMT gearbox, in all likelihood, it will not make way in the CNG versions of the hatchback and sedan. Did we forget to tell you that upon its launch, Tata Tigor will be the only vehicle in India to have a petrol, CNG and all-electric version.
