Royal Enfield has unveiled the ‘Him-E’ Concept, its first-ever electric motorcycle, at EICMA 2023 alongside the second-generation Himalayan. Royal Enfield revealed the new electric motorcycle in specimen form. As per the company, the ‘Him-E’ is not just a concept; it’s more of a ‘test laboratory’ as it is manufactured to encourage sustainable mobility solutions for future exploration and touring.
At the EICMA 2023, Royal Enfield showcased a video clip of the ‘Him-E’ Concept being ridden in the Himalayas, and it is smoothly mounting on and off the roads without making high noise. The all-electric Himalayan is still in its testing phase, so no confirmed specifications have been revealed by the company.
The Electric Himalayan testbed borrows its sleek design from the Himalayan 452. The all-electric Himalayan gets minimal bodywork. To cut down on bike weight, the concept uses organic flax fibre for the tank structure, which flows rearwards to adapt the rider. The tail section of the motorcycle appears to be made of aluminum. Royal Enfield has confirmed that the main structural component of the all-electric Himalayan is the in-house-designed battery box.

The ‘Him-E’ Concept gets a circular headlight, including LED DRLs around the main headlight. The electric motor in the motorcycle is fixed behind the battery box, and the charging port looks to be attached at the peak of the tank structure. The motorcycle has a chain drive system, huge-spoke wheels, a chunky upside-down fork, and monoshock sourced from Ohlins.
The Chief Growth Officer (EV) of Royal Enfield, Mr. Mario Alvisi, stated that “the Electric Himalayan Testbed is much more than a design concept. For us, this is our vision and a glimpse of what to expect from us in the future. There is a much larger electric mobility blueprint that is being brought alive at Royal Enfield as we continue to work on multiple ‘electrifying’ expressions of pure motorcycling”.
The production version of the ‘Him-E’ is expected to be seen sometime in 2025. Royal Enfield has acquired a 10.35% equity stake in Stark Future, which is an electric mobility firm. The ‘Him-E’ could also feature important technical inputs from Stark Future.
